Kpop reviews: memorable songs of the months or so

There has been a few memorable and great releases from kpop in just one week. Pretty freaking rare for kpop to do any of that since usually the most popular songs are crap and they follow the crappy trend. Anyways, here we go:

Gfriend - Love Whisper

Honestly, this release is pretty underwhelming compared to Rough or Navillera. It just lacks the bombastic instrumental (strings, mostly) that Rough has, and isn't as jumpy and flavorful as Navillera. This is more of a mix between Glass Bead (still one of their weakest songs to date) and Me Gustas Tu, minus the catchiness of MGT.

That being said, song is still pretty solid, this is the song that I put on repeat all the time. SinB's chorus section is just beautiful. There is still quite a good instrumental break and guitar solo, though still not as good as Rough. The water dance looks cool af and the choreo itself is pretty good if you watch the dance practice.

Also I really don't understand the hate put on this group. They don't rap, one of them can actually sing, and they keep doing their signature style of music and netizens shit on them.

TL;DR: 7.5/10, one of their weaker songs, but they set their standards very high so there's that.

Dreamcatcher - Fly High

Dreamcatcher is one of the best groups to date, on par with GFriend (satanic GFriend if you will heh), very heavy rock/metal instrumentals, amazing choreo and just overall a great group. This comeback is also fantastic, except that I am not digging it.

The song is perfect, it should really have all the components for me to jam into it. A great piano intro, pop-rock feel and good instrumentals. I think I just really liked their previous two songs alot better. 'Good Night' is probably top 10 best Kpop songs of all time. I guess this one just doesn't have all that head bashing riffs and intro that 'Good Night' has. This really reminds me of a slightly heavier 'Damaged Lady' by KARA. Definitely recommend people to check this out.

TL;DR: 8/10, Great song but I prefer hard rock stuff like 'Good Night' and not a hybrid like 'Damaged Lady' by KARA.

Laboum - Only u

One of the best intros I've heard in a long time, it's an instant hook for the song. That being said, the verse that came after that sounded pretty boring in comparison. The chorus is okay, and the song mixes in the intro stuff on its last one minute, which is great. 7.5/10

9Muses - Love City

Last song in the list, and is arguably the best one in the list. The whisper thing is great and I like how they know it worked from their last song. Exciting song throughout and I especially love the 4 ascending chords post-chorus (chu chu chu, la la la, ta ta ta, stop it boy part). Packed with instrumentals, and the song is very dynamic. I really do not expect this group to churn out more great songs despite its history. 8.5/10
